Cabinside Ultra 14: the remote-work laptop to beat
Eighteen hours of real battery, a keyboard you can type on all day, and silence under load. We used it as our only work machine for a month.
Working on it
The keyboard is the star: deep, crisp travel with zero flex, backlit evenly, and a fingerprint reader in the power key that worked first time, every time. The 14-inch matte display is bright enough for sunny cafés and kind to eyes on long document days.
Performance never blinked — forty browser tabs, video calls, photo edits and a local dev server, all while the fans stayed inaudible. Battery life is the real deal: we consistently finished two full workdays between charges.
The fine print
- At 1.2 kg it disappears into a tote bag; the magnesium lid has survived a month of commuting unmarked.
- Ports are sensible: two USB-C, one USB-A, HDMI and a headphone jack — no dongle life.
- Speakers are merely okay, and the webcam, while sharp, still struggles in warm indoor light.
What we liked
- Two-day real-world battery
- Best-in-class keyboard
- Silent under heavy load
What we didn't
- Average speakers
- Webcam dislikes lamplight
The verdict
The rare laptop with no meaningful compromise at its price. If you work from anywhere, this is the one to beat — and right now, nothing beats it. 5 out of 5.
