Harborlight Paddleboard: the all-round board we lend to friends
Bag to water in ten minutes, stable enough for nervous first-timers, and tough enough for rocky launches. We paddled it on lakes, estuaries and one ambitious coastal morning.
On the water
Stability is the story: at 32 inches wide with a full-length deck pad, the Harborlight forgives wobbles that would swim you on a narrower touring board. Tracking is straight enough for relaxed cruising, and it turns predictably when you step back — beginners were standing and steering inside fifteen minutes in our tests.
Build quality impressed: double-layer rails, a rigid drop-stitch core that pumps to 15 PSI without complaint, and metal D-rings (not plastic) for the cargo net and kayak-seat mounts.
The kit
- The roller backpack fits board, pump, paddle and leash with room for a towel.
- Three-piece paddle adjusts smoothly and floats — we tested this accidentally.
- At 9 kg packed, it is genuinely portable for one person.
What we liked
- Beginner-proof stability
- Ten-minute setup
- Tough fittings throughout
What we didn't
- Not for speed or racing
- Pump gauge reads 1 PSI high
The verdict
The all-round inflatable we hand to friends without a safety lecture. Confident beginners could outgrow it in year two — everyone else will just enjoy it. 4.6 out of 5.
